Happy Easter! May your lives during this lovely season be filled with all Easter blessings, especially love and peace. Plenty of sunshine here but I do miss the daffodils.
The new school year started on 9th March and, as always, the 5th year escorted our youngest pupils (Inicial) for the opening assembly. They have classes in the morning as do the secondary pupils. Primary pupils are in the afternoon.
I apologise for not sending any news for the second half of January. I was in England, experiencing the pleasure of the cold winds after the hot, sticky weather here. And now I’m back to the same.
There was quite a bit of activity during the month. Many schools, ours included, run what they call vacaciones útiles during the long holiday. In many cases this can be sport but several workshops put on classes either of interest or to help improve skills. Very often the maths department will run classes to give extra practice or to push to a higher level. There are always many takers for the various activities. Then there are the pupils who have to ‘recuperate’ failed courses at the end of the year.
Sorry that this is a bit late. The end of the year was quite busy and then I went off for a retreat with the Brothers in the south of the country.
Early in December we had the final exams and these can have a bearing on whether some pupils have to come in during the holidays to ‘recuperate’ failed courses or worse to repeat the year because they have three failed courses.
Our strange weather has continued – quite damp in the morning then turning into sunny, warm days. We are told this is a result of El Niño. Much brighter has been our showing in various projects. Our SUNASS group, dealing with the correct use and saving of water, came third in the national finals. They were outdone by our electronic group who came second at national level with their project. There are lots of happy pupils – and teachers.
