Replacing breadcrumbs in the Italian Chocolate Nut Christmas Cake

Can I omit the breadcrumbs in the Italian Chocolate Nut Christmas Cake and replace them with chopped up nuts? I have a family member who needs a Gluten Free diet. Also how many does it serve?

Ground almonds or ground hazelnuts woud be nice. 

It's very rich, and it depends when you eat it but probably 10 - 12.
